After doing Uldum’s quest content and seeing just how beautiful this zone is, I had to put this together. While previous flythrough videos have covered multiple zones, this is a 6 minute video focused entirely on the new zone of Uldum. You can find more flythrough videos on the Curse Network YouTube channel, under the Cataclysm Zone Flythroughs playlist.

The music included in the video is actual zone music you’ll hear in Uldum.

A couple important blue posts so far today, including one about the backstory of Cho’gall leading into Cataclysm!

Also, in case you were wondering what’s up with the site slowness / the blue tracker, we migrated all Curse websites to new servers yesterday (from New Jersey to Atlanta, GA).

New Battle.net Privacy Settings

We’d like to make you aware of the new Real ID-related privacy options we’ve introduced to Battle.net. These options provide Real ID users with additional tools for customizing the service based on their preferences, enabling the ability to opt in or out of the Real ID “Friends of Friends” and “Add Facebook Friends” features or to turn off Real ID altogether.

Real ID offers an optional, convenient way for keeping in touch with real-world friends you know and trust, whether they’re playing World of Warcraft, StarCraft II, or one of our future games. The “Friends of Friends” and “Add Facebook Friends” features provide you with even more options to stay connected while you play by making it easier for real-life friends to locate each other on Battle.net. You can easily enable or disable these features through your Battle.net privacy settings by logging in to your Battle.net account at http://www.battle.net/.

Faces of Cataclysm: Cho’gall

Cho’gall’s sordid history is a testament to his unflinching desire to sow chaos wherever his dark influence extends. The first of the ogre magi, Cho’gall rose to prominence in the old Horde as chieftain of the orcish Twilight’s Hammer clan. His dubious loyalties became apparent when he abandoned the Horde during a pivotal moment in the Second War.

In retaliation, forces dispatched by Orgrim Doomhammer slaughtered most of Cho’gall’s traitorous clan, forcing him and his surviving cohorts into hiding. Over the following years, the ogre mage molded the Twilight’s Hammer into a fanatical cult devoted to worshipping the Old Gods — ancient harbingers of the apocalypse. Cho’gall’s obsession with these malefic deities led him to the ruined city of Ahn’Qiraj, where he began efforts to awaken an Old God by harnessing the immense powers of Med’an, the new Guardian of Tirisfal. Ultimately, Med’an thwarted Cho’gall’s plans, and the scheming ogre mage was thought slain. The Twilight’s Hammer, however, has remained organized, leading to fears that Cho’gall is still alive… and merely biding his time, waiting for the right moment to make his presence known once again.

We can only communicate our plans in so many ways. We are careful and cautious though it’s true about giving out too many details when they aren’t solidified. We do this for a variety of reasons including understanding that if we give a date, people can and will make plans around that date. When they do and say (heaven forbid) we miss that date, that person is upset that we were unable to give them a reliable date. Sure, you can say it’s the fault of that person, but we work very hard to make sure that our information is as accurate as possible and if we have concerns or ideas of how something might change further, we try to leave ourselves that option and let it be known as often as we can.

We’ve already posted the potential date of the end of the Arena season. That should help some people with some of their plans. If you’re looking for a more concrete date for the release of Cataclysm itself, we’re not at the point yet where we feel we want to release that. Anything else that’s floating out there is speculation until we do so.

*Edit- Also, it’s easy to say, "why won’t they answer my important question" but you must keep in mind, some things we can’t answer, we can’t be in every thread at ever moment though we try to read as much as we can, without more information about what it is you need an answer to –we can’t answer anything. There are also a lot of answers out there already. There are more answers that we need to do more work to provide because we try to take into account its effect and how much information should go with it to make it as complete as possible. And sometimes, the answer we give just isn’t always the one someone wants to hear, but we do what we can.

I am intrigued. With supplies depleted from the war against the Lich King and now an impending global crisis, I’d love to know what people plan to do to prepare for it all.

Patch 4.0.1 release date
We’re very close to the release of Patch 4.0.1, at this point the only question is “How close?”

As far as I can tell, you can probably expect the patch on October 5th or October 12th. Ghostcrawler already suggested that the patch would be deployed right before the end of the arena season and added that “they shouldn’t have a lasting impact on ratings, titles, and the like”.
