World of WarCrafts spotlights art and creativity by WoW players, including fan art, cooking, comics, cosplay, music, fan fiction and more. Sample the whole spectrum on our Arts and Crafts in WoW page.

This year’s winners for the BlizzCon costume contest were all incredibly amazing efforts, such as the winning costume above, but the contest isn’t over for the runner-up costumes! Both the BlizzCon US and the BlizzCon Europe websites are running a contest for those who didn’t win on the big stage, and there’s a lot of costumes to choose from and vote for.

From Maiev to an Orgrimmar mailbox and from the fluffiest moonkin you’ve ever seen to the ever-bubbly Mylune, these 20 amazingly constructed costumes were picked and given a second chance at nabbing some prizes. Voting ends tomorrow, Nov. 18 — so log in and vote while you can!

And if you’re in the mood for more magical costumes, check out our previous articles with cosplayers Svetlana Quindt, Christina Sims, and KittyCatChi. While you’re at it, why not take a look at the full gallery of BlizzCon 2011 costume contest images?

Attention, writers! Those of you who are working on entries for this year’s Global Writing Contest may want to step up the pace. The deadline for the 2011 Global Writing Contest is Oct. 15 — a little over a week away. Remember, stories must be between 2,500 to 7,500 words and set in the Warcraft, Diablo or StarCraft universes.

This year’s prizes include a trip to Blizzard headquarters and a meeting with the Blizzard writing staff for the grand prize winner, as well as a ton of signed books from all three Blizzard universes and a replica of the Doomhammer. Good luck to all who enter, and don’t forget to check out our interviews with last year’s winners, too!

It’s that time of year again — the time when all hopeful writers put fingers to keys and come up with the kind of prose that could win them a trip to Blizzard’s headquarters. The 2011 Global Writing Contest is looking for stories from 2,500 to 7,500 words, set in the Warcraft, Diablo or StarCraft universes. This year, the grand prize offers a trip to Blizzard headquarters to meet with the Blizzard writing staff, a host of signed books from Warcraft, Diablo and StarCraft, as well as a Doomhammer of your very own.

Interested in putting together an entry? Check out the official rules and FAQ at the official site. The deadline this year is Sept. 28, so getting started sooner rather than later is advised. You can also take a look at last year’s winners and runners-up on the official website. While you’re at it, why not take a look at our interviews with last year’s winners as well? Good luck to all who enter!

Blizzard has updated the comic contest gallery with more leftovers from the community comic contest. You can check out the full gallery at the Blizzard community site. If you go through the gallery, you’ll see some familiar art styles from some of the bigger WoW comic artists out there. Plus, the comic that Blizzard linked in the blue post put a smile on my face. Oh, Chimaeron, you are hilarious.

Still in the mood for more WoW comics? WoW Insider has got you covered (as usual) with Amanda Miller’s weekly Sunday Morning Funnies and, of course, our very own weekly webcomic by Kelly Aarons. Blizzard knows that there are a lot of WoW comic creators out there and, from their continued support and contests for comic creators, definitely like showing off what the community has to offer.

We have some tasty leftovers from our community comic contest to share. This comic was submitted by Shannon Fowler (Amyiss). Check out the full gallery here.

After what felt like an eternity, Blizzard has finally released the full list of winners of the 2010 global writing contest along with snippets of their submissions. It had previously announced the winners’ character names, but we have quite a bit more information now. Raphael Ahad’s Silver Hand, Ebon Blade took the grand prize, and you can read the full story on Blizzard’s official site.

You can also read excerpts of the runners-up, though I wish we could read the full story for those, too. If they were released in an anthology, I would be first in line to pick it up. I’d love read the entirety of stories like In the Blood — the teaser is just … well, a tease, I suppose. It’s a shame that we may never see them in full.

  • Send it from an email address you check often.
  • Include your guild’s name and server.

There are a few restrictions. The full rules for the contest are listed here, which include:

  • You haven’t won before. (It’s okay to enter if you have entered before, however, as long as you didn’t win.)
