This year’s winners for the BlizzCon costume contest were all incredibly amazing efforts, such as the winning costume above, but the contest isn’t over for the runner-up costumes! Both the BlizzCon US and the BlizzCon Europe websites are running a contest for those who didn’t win on the big stage, and there’s a lot of costumes to choose from and vote for.

From Maiev to an Orgrimmar mailbox and from the fluffiest moonkin you’ve ever seen to the ever-bubbly Mylune, these 20 amazingly constructed costumes were picked and given a second chance at nabbing some prizes. Voting ends tomorrow, Nov. 18 — so log in and vote while you can!

And if you’re in the mood for more magical costumes, check out our previous articles with cosplayers Svetlana Quindt, Christina Sims, and KittyCatChi. While you’re at it, why not take a look at the full gallery of BlizzCon 2011 costume contest images?

Thanks to a tweet from Bashiok and an update to the official announcement, we now know that PvP Season 10 is ending this November 29th. This means that we now know that, since PvP seasons tend to end a week or two before patch drops, it becomes likely that we’ll see Patch 4.3 by the first week of December. Bashiok’s tweet implies that this will be the case.

Since we know now exactly when the PvP season will be ending, you’ll have exactly a week to spend honor for the current season’s conquest point rewards before the new rewards are released alongside patch 4.3.

Brace yourselves for what could be some of most exciting updates to the game recently with patch 4.3. Review the official patch notes, and then dig into what’s ahead: new item storage options, cross-realm raiding, cosmetic armor skinning and your chance to battle the mighty Deathwing — from astride his back!

If you’re familiar with the many flavors of social awkwardness that convention season brings to the fore (and with BlizzCon around the corner, you may be about to experience some of it) then the fourth episode of Season 5 of The Guild is a love letter to you. It has special guest appearances by Brent Spiner and Grant Imahara, plus you’ll get to watch people doing all the astonishingly painfully awkward things people do at conventions, like dress up like a pirate and mouth off, try to start a relationship, or wear skimpy Princess Leia outfits.

Seriously, why are you still here? I did tell you Brent Spiner was in this, didn’t I?

The Cataclysm beta is winding down today, which makes sense due to the release of 4.0.3a tomorrow.  It actually started off a bit confusingly though, as Daelo stated that “open raid testing” was now closed, but they might make raids available for testing any time between today and December 7th for focused testing.

However, Zarhym followed that up a bit later to state that the Cataclysm beta is ending, with the realms going down at some point today for good.  An interesting piece of information was shared by QA member Ujumqin, too.  More than 700 bugs have been fixed thanks to the efforts of beta testers during the testing process.

That’s a pretty impressive amount, and surely Blizzard has fixed quite a few more that they found themselves.  This was a fairly long beta process — extending beyond the durations of The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King by at least a month — which is a testament to the magnitude of the changes coming in this expansion.

You got a small taste with 4.0.1, and will discover more tomorrow, but the icing will be on December 7th, 2010 when Deathwing unleashes havoc across Azeroth and the elemental planes.

In his poem A Red, Red Rose, notorious Scottish haggis wrangler Robert Burns wrote:

As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I,
And I will luve thee still, my Dear,
Till a’ the seas gang dry.

Till a’ the seas gang dry, my Dear,
And the rocks melt wi’ the sun!
O I will luve thee still, my Dear,
While the sands o’ life shall run.

Why bring this up, you might ask? Well, it gives me an excuse to link to this Robert Burns joke, which I never seem to get to reference in daily life. Also, all the seas “gang” dry seems to be a predominant theme on the 4.0 PTR — we’ve gotten several submissions with missing oceans and disappointed fishermen. (Thanks to Zhiva of Anachronos [EU-A] for the pic.)
