WoW Insider’s on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.

If you’ve never seen Illegal Danish before, man, you are missing out. It was one of the first machinima I ever watched, and it’s still just as funny years later. Speaking of things from years ago, Blog Azeroth had a shared topic suggested by Mia over at the Chronicles of Mia that posed a good question: If you could bring back any feature of WoW from days gone by, what would that be? Here are a few bloggers with some answers to the question.

New around here? WoW Rookie points WoW’s newest players to the resources they need to get acclimated.

Especially on old servers, it can feel like all the good names are already claimed. Creating a new character with a strong, iconic name is one heck of a challenge, especially if you want to avoid joke and parody names like McDoomChicken. You can give up your dreams of finding real-world names like Stephen or Michael; the only way you’ll grab a straightforward name is to grab it on a brand new server (and we’re fairly unlikely to see a brand new server any time soon).

With Mists of Pandaria careening toward us with all the excitement of a monk rolling along in a fuzzy ball, now’s the time to get your unique snowflake name reserved. Rest assured that every variation of Jack Black you can create has already been taken. Let’s talk about how you can create a unique, interesting name without resorting to all the special font characters WoW will allow.

WoW Insider’s on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.

I can’t really decide what my favorite thing from the patch 4.3 PTR is. I don’t know if it’s the fact that I can customize my gear to look pretty cool … or the new dungeons that are relatively quick, challenging and filled with plenty of worthwhile loot … or the fact that I’ve suddenly got 80 slots free in my bank. I can’t wait to see what the Dragon Soul raid has to offer, but right now, the next patch is looking really, really good.

Today we’ve got some posts from around the blogosphere regarding the PTR and patch 4.3.

Man, I miss Animaniacs. Actually, all of the Warner Bros. cartoons from that time period were great. They were smart, and they were funny. I remember many fond moments when my mother would crack up while watching the show with us, not explaining whatever was so funny and telling us we would “get it when we were older.” It’s amazing how much stuff they managed to slip in there for the grown-ups.

Today we’ve got a collection of posts from around the blogosphere highlighting good ideas for new players, good ideas for experienced players, and some good old-fashioned critical thinking.

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Anne Stickney is still holding this column hostage.

This episode of The Queue has been sponsored in part by Anubis Markets, a division of Osiris Foods. So shop at the sign of the jackal-headed man for food so good, you can eat it.

And now, on with The Queue:

Jack Spicer asked:

After doing Throne of Tides for the umpteenth time, I finally noticed that at the end of the fight Ozumat appears to eat Neptulon before fleeing. I guess I was too busy worrying about loot to notice. (Sorry guy!) Am I imagining things, or is that actually what happens? And if so, what the heck? Please explain.

Well, Jack, there’s actually a really simple and logical explana — hey look, over there, it’s a three-headed monkey!

Hands up if this clip brought about a wash of nostalgia. The Point was a movie I saw multiple times when I was a kid — and each time, it had a different narrator, oddly enough. Looking back on the film’s history, it seems that the first narrator was actually Dustin Hoffman, of all people. Regardless, the weird little movie had a point about points and pointedly made them, even if it was in a roundabout sort of way.

Speaking of points, today we’ve got some good points made around the blogosphere about … well, points.

Are WoW Cataclysm Graphics Good? is the title of the new tribute video by Wowcrendor. The video showcases some of the beautiful, stunning imagery to be found in the landscapes of Azeroth. Obviously, the answer we’re being led to is “Yes, WoW Cataclysm graphics are pretty darn good.”

This movie is actually a sequel of Wowcrendor’s original Are WoW Graphics Bad? Tribute videos like these aren’t uncommon; we saw a lot of nostalgia videos about the time Wrath of the Lich King was going away. Still, Wowcrendor has a pretty good eye, and he puts it to use in these landscape features.

Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.

Drama Mamas Lisa Poisso and Robin Torres are experienced gamers and real-life mamas — and just as we don’t want our precious babies to be the ones kicking and wailing on the floor of the checkout lane next to the candy, neither do we want you to become known as That Guy on your realm.

Last week, we talked about getting unsolicited advice from strangers. This week, we talk about giving unsolicited — but necessary — advice to friends. Regardless of whether you like Lisa’s or my answers, I think we all agree they are both better than GLaDOS’s passive-aggressive approach.

Dear Drama Mamas,

I’m a raid leader in peril, and I’m and officer in a conundrum. I’m the leader of a small raid team, attempting to start the cataclysm wow content. We are a small social guild, and come together as a family tried to built a home in Azeroth for our family away from our real families. Each of my guild members are valued members of my online family. However, I do come from from the role of a fairly hardcore raider previously. I really enjoy the challenge of progressing through content. My problem is when these two worlds collide.

Pop law abounds in The Lawbringer, your weekly dose of WoW, the law, video games and the MMO genre. Running parallel to the games we love and enjoy is a world full of rules, regulations, pitfalls and traps. How about you hang out with us as we discuss some of the more esoteric aspects of the games we love to play?

On Monday, Blizzard announced that it would begin selling a new companion pet in the pet store and that for a limited time (until July 31), 100% of the cost of the pet would go to the American Red Cross to aid victims of the tsunami and earthquake in Japan. Blizzard used its art and time assets for a great cause, using a previously successful tactic to raise money for people in dire need. While Blizzard is not donating the money directly, it is facilitating donation collection and incentive by putting the pet up for sale.

What interests me is the level of fervor and the community outcry for this type of relief effort by Blizzard. Why are people so eager to push a corporation like Blizzard, which has a costly back end to monitor and maintain, into what amounts to a large-scale companion pet release for charity that people would have donated to anyway based on the generally accepted understanding that people are charitable? First, we need to learn a tiny bit about corporate donations and charity and explore why people like Blizzard in the first place. Second, we can ask why we want Blizzard to do the right thing.
